Wendell Jay Bates, 50 of Sulphur passed away on June 9, 2012.The family will receive friends at the family home in Sulphur from 12-4 p.m. on Monday, June 11, 2012. Wendell was a native of Lake Charles and a long-time resident of LaBelle TX. He owned and operated Z Jay’s Vacuum Truck Services, Inc. Wendell was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church in Bossier City, LA. He was a very loving husband, son, father and uncle. Wendell is survived by his wife, Denise Bates of Sulphur; son, Brandon Kyle Bates of Walls, MS; daughter, Chelsea Shea Bates of Walls, MS; mother, Bessie Lee Bates, of Sulphur; two sisters, Becky Roubieu and husband, Otis of Baytown, TX and Billie Jo Reedy and husband, Jeff of Lumberton, TX. He was preceded in death by his father, William Bates; two brothers, William Bates Jr. and Wade Bates.
