Bennie Roberts

Bennie Gene Roberts (Bob/Bud), 86, of Sulphur passed away on March 14, 2014 in West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital. Services will be held on Monday, March 17, 2014 at 10 am at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home in the Chapel. Visitation will be Sunday, March 16, 2014 from 4-9 pm. Burial will be in Holdenville, Oklahoma Cemetery.

Bennie was born in Holdenville, Oklahoma. He had 3 brothers and 5 sisters. Bennie was the president of his senior class at Spaulding High School in 1948.

In the National Guard, he was trained in the mechanics school in Fort Benning, Georgia. Bennie retired from Halliburton where he worked for 38 years as the maintenance supervisor. Bennie was also a Mason in the Westlake Lodge #443 and in Eastern Star Lodge #228.

Bennie is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Lou Roberts; four sons, Ron of Sulphur, LA, Marty (Rebecca), David (Joanie), and Steve (Monica) all of Houston, Texas. Bennie is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren,, and one poodle, Dijon.

Bennie is preceded in death by his parents, George and Flora Roberts; 3 brothers, Jim, Carl, and Prince Roberts; 5 sisters, Catholee, Myrtle, Ola Mae, Ruby, and Elois; and one granddaughter, Celila.

  2. Mr Roberts, It was an honor and privilege to work for you and your wife the past few years. It was so enjoyable talking with you about chickens, the farm in Oklahoma and old times. I will always treasure the memories of you sitting in your chair with Dijon beside you. RIP Mr Roberts. You will surely be missed by all who knew you and loved you. MY daughter, Jami thought the world of you, Our hearts go out to your loving wife, Mary Lou. Jami will be checking on her and doing what she can to help her. <3 If Heaven has farm animals and dogs, reserve me a spot. I'll see you on the other side someday.
