Carolyn Faye Amy

October 9, 1952 ~ June 12, 2021

Carolyn Faye Amy (née Smith) passed away on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at the age of 68 in Sulphur, Louisiana, following a brave, 15-month battle with cancer.   Born October 9, 1952 to the late Remi and Louisiana Smith of Swords, Louisiana, she was the youngest of five sisters. In 1970, Carolyn graduated from Eunice High School, where, at her high school locker, she met and fell in love with her future husband, Aubrey Amy. The two were married on September 4, 1971, thus beginning a nearly 50-year love affair during which they built a family and forged a lasting bond few are fortunate enough to achieve.

Carolyn first pledged her life to the Lord in 1975 and continued to live a life dedicated to God's service up until her death. She and her husband began the United Pentecostal Church in Iowa, Louisiana, where they ministered for several years and had the privilege of leading numerous souls to Christ. Often serving as a Sunday School teacher, Carolyn exemplified God's instruction that we should love one another. She was a shining example of peace, hope and longsuffering and was devoted to the written Word of God—her copy of the “One Year Bible” always well worn, requiring routine replacement.

Outside of church, Carolyn’s joy and focus was her family.  She loved spending time with her children and adored her grandchildren.  On holidays, she converted her house into a playground paradise for the grandkids, always with multiple, assorted family-favorite desserts readily within reach of tiny hands and adult fingers, alike.

She was a loving, caring soul, and a devoted wife, mother, Mawmaw, and friend. Her loving memory will be cherished by: her husband, Aubrey; their three children, Rachel Smith and husband, Steve, Darren Amy and wife, Valerie, and Lance Amy and wife, Kristen; her grandchildren, Ian, Claire, Noah, Sarah, Isabella, Katelyn, and Mateo; her sisters, Shirley, Betty, Wanna, and Wilda; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Arrangements are with Johnson and Robinson Funeral Home in Sulphur, Louisiana, where visitation will be open to the public on Friday, June 18, 2021, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., and services will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2021, at 10 a.m. with Pastor Randy Stanton officiating.
