Dene Ann Barthels

February 13, 1935 ~ October 15, 2015

Dene Ann Barthels, 80, of Sulphur passed away on October 15, 2015. Dene worked as an office manager for 42 years for the Credit Bureau. She grew up in the Redeemer Lutheran Church in DeRidder, LA. Dene enjoyed painting and was an artist of oils and acrylics. Her most favorite pastime was shopping, which according to everyone, she was very good at completing this task. Dene is survived by her daughter, Sherry Roark and husband Rick of Sulphur; her two sons, Ken Henderson and wife DeLaney of Shreveport, LA and Kyle Simmons, Jr. of San Francisco, CA; 6 grandchildren; 8 and a half great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, John Weick and David Weick and wife Davette; her sister, Jean Weick; her aunt, Flossie Sowell all of TX; 4 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cecil "Bart" Barthels and her sister, Sue Weick. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 from 5-9 P.M. at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. A private funeral service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital.

  1. Deneann was a special person to me, always nice to me, she really liked me and called me Gengerfer one time and laughed. Ill always remember her kindness and smile.

  2. To the family I was sorry to read of your loss. Death is difficult to endure regardless of the age, however we can find comfort from Gods word the Bible. It tells us that soon all those in the memorial tomb will come out by means of a resurrection.(John 5:28, 29) Please lean on the God of all Comfort to help you during this time.

  3. Im so very sorry for your loss. Kyle and I were very good friends in high school and I recently reconnected with Dene on Facebook. She was such a warm and kind individual and she will be greatly missed!

  4. I worked with her in one of my first jobs @ the Credit Bureau in 1962…and have never forgotten her loveliness.Think of her everytime I watch the redhead in Mad Men, the tv show…I am so very sorry for your loss….She is special..
