JD Flowers

October 27, 1937 ~ May 21, 2023

JD Flowers, 85, of Sulphur, LA passed away on May 21, 2023. JD was born on October 27, 1937, to John and Lillie Flowers in Benson, NC. 

JD was known for being a gentleman and a loving man. He enjoyed playing horseshoes in his younger days, building houses, woodworking, and a great teacher of his trade. JD loved watching the Band ABBA, he was a movie buff and an avid animal lover. 

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving daughter, Sheree Simons and husband Bill; 6 grandchildren, Joshua Flowers, Adam Janies, Tina Matte, Stephen Horvath, Richard Flowers, and Mary Flowers; and numerous great grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 48 years, Gloria Flowers; his parents; one son, Richard Flowers; and 5 siblings.

  1. So sorry to hear about JD. Haven’t seen him in awhile, but from when I first met him in 1980, he was always cheerful, never seemed to be in a bad mood! Watched him once form up, dig footings, lay rebar and pour a house slab by himself, then do most of the framing alone also. Quite impressive! May he rest in peace, for he worked hard enough while he was here.

  3. Thought about you often through out the years. I wish adulting wouldn't have gotten in the way for you to meet Kelsi. ❤️ I have very happy memories with you as a child. I love you and the family.
