Mary "Coot" McInnis

December 19, 1955 ~ February 14, 2022

Mary “Coot” McInnis, 66, passed from this life surrounded by her loving family on Monday, February 14, 2022. “Coot” was a dispatcher for Cameron Parish Sheriffs Office for 27 years before retiring and moving on to be a security captain for Loftin Security for 14 years. She enjoyed reading, playing Mahjong, Facebook, and catching up with all her friends. “Coot” also enjoyed making baby blankets for newborns for over 40 years. She loved being around family especially her nieces and nephews. Her heart was her children, her loves, Michelle and Luke.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Michelle Annette and Lucas Bowman McInnis; sisters, Jean Istre and Bobbie Fountain (Curtis); sister-in-law Phyllis Welch; brother-in-law, Roland Kershaw; sister-in-law, Loretta Gentry (Bill), Charlotte McInnis; brother-in-law, Michael McInnis and Kenny McInnis; nieces and nephews, Jennifer Istre, Ruxton (Rusty) Istre, Curtis (CR) Fountain, Troy Fountain, Carly Fountain, Brad Welch, Keith Welch, Caryn Kershaw,  Brandon Weber, Russell Weber, Amanda Gentry, Erin Willis, Ethan McInnis, Marshall McInnis, Brandy McInnis, Gerald (Bubba) McInnis and numerous grandnieces and nephews; Dwayne McInnis (Suzanne). She was a GrandpetMa to, Sabbie, Gracie, ChiChi, and Mehmet.

“Coot” is preceded in death by her parents, Vernie and Grace Welch; sister Patricia (Pat) Kershaw; brother Robert “Bo” Welch; grandpets, Jack, Rhamsie, Neo, and Tika.

The family would like to give a heartfelt Thank You, to Heart of Hospice nurses, staff at APTC (Donna), the staff at Cal- Cam Hospital, Dr, Khan and his staff, Sulphur Surgical staff and doctors, Charles Morris, the Council on Aging, and the staff at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home.

Visitation with family will be Saturday, February 19, 2022, from 8:00 AM till 10:00 AM with a Rosary for Coot at 10:00 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM at St. Peter Catholic Church in Hackberry.  Burial will be at Hackberry Cemetery.

In Lieu of Flowers, the Family request that donations be made to Heart of Hospice in Coot’s name.

  1. Words can not express how Coot will be missed. I kept up through Facebook with her an we were talking about trying to all see if we could meet in Charleston one last time. Well I guess we missed out. Coot you are enjoying being with your parents an brother an sister now. And Randy an Carleton an of course Grandpa an Grandma Braddock give them all a hug for us. I love you an will miss your laughter an sweet voice cuz!!!!

  2. I'm really sorry to see you go so early Coot. You were always a pleasure to be around; you could talk someone's head off, but I enjoyed listening to you. I pray you are reunited with your family in Heaven. Rest in peace.

  4. I can not believe that Coot is gone. We talked on Facebook . We were hoping to plan on all of us meeting in Charleston one more time. Coot I love you I know you are up there with Randy an your brother an sister. Grandma an grandpa an mom an dad. To young we will miss you cuz love you

  6. I knew Coot as I was her Mum’s, Gracie, pen-pal. I am really sorry to hear Coot has passed. Condolences to all her family.
