Maudrey Gaspard was reunited with her parents in heaven on Wednesday, August 19, 2021, due to complications from COVID-19. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and was widely known for her infectious smile, extraordinary kindness and intense love for family. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren. It was a memorable occasion when they were able to spend the night with “Manaw” and they always looked forward to their morning “coffee milk” with her. She did everything in her power to make sure they felt the love she had for them. She was very proud of her 6 children and looked forward to celebrating their successes which were a direct result of the surmounted strength and unprecedented work ethic she demonstrated for them over the years. Family get-togethers were always a joyous celebration filled with love.
Maudrey loved life and was blessed with many experiences but was especially fond of spending time with her brothers and sister during their many road trips and weekends at Holly Beach. She had an astonishing green thumb and enjoyed working in her garden.
To Maudrey, everyone in her life was family and she treated them as if they were. Her work family was very dear to her and she often shared stories of the fun they had together while working. Always going above and beyond for people to make sure every detail was perfect during the events she was in charge of managing, she made sure special occasions were just that...special.
Most impactful to the community was her servant's heart. She served on the board for the West Calcasieu Chamber of Commerce and events committee for over ten years; was the former president of the Westlake Rotary Club and longtime Rotarian. She was a member of Christian Life Church of Sulphur, and her church family was very special to her.
Maudrey spent many years taking care of children while operating her own daycare. After returning from the Isle of Capris as an event coordinator, she managed events for the West Calcasieu Event Center.
Left to cherish her memory are her six children, Brian Gaspard of DeQuincy, Robert Gaspard and wife Jennifer of Iowa, Chrystal Gaspard Matthews and fiancé Brian Gibson of Gonzales, Greg Gaspard and fiancé Nancy Waits of Sulphur, Blake Gaspard and wife Kashia of Sulphur, and Regina Gaspard Vincent and husband Spencer of Ragley; twenty-one grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. She will also be greatly missed by her six siblings, Enson Saltzman, Lawrence Saltsman, Nelson Saltzman, Jr. Neelis Saltzman, Larry Saltzman, and Kathleen Saltzman Koch, all of Kaplan: and her “forever daughter-in-law”, Shelly Gaspard of DeQuincy.
Maudrey was preceded in death by her parents, Nelson and Lennie Saltzman of Kaplan
