While Patrick “Pat” Moyer, Catherine “Kitty” Camille Moyer Scalisi Ardoin Dudoit, Edith “Faye” Moyer Manning Kennedy, and Jerri Ann Moyer Benoit have all passed before Ruth and are waiting to greet her again. Ruth cherished her family and found joy in the bonds of siblinghood.

On November 29, 1958, Ruth married the love of her life, Ronald Lynn Vincent, at St. Margaret’s Church in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Their 65 years of marriage were a testament to enduring love, commitment, and shared memories.

Ruth’s educational journey included her time at LeGrange High School in Lake Charles, Louisiana, where she proudly served as a Gatorette. She later pursued her passion for helping others by becoming an EMT and earned her LPN degree from SOWELA. Ruth dedicated many years to her career, with her first assignment being in labor and delivery. She later became the nurse for Dr. Grimball and Dr. Richert for around 25 years. Before her retirement, she finished her career as the company nurse at Northup Gruman.

Among many of her achievements, she was very proud to became the first lady to ride the ambulance for Calcasieu Hospital in Sulphur, Louisiana.

Ruth found joy in life’s simple pleasures, including fishing, camping, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She had a passion for travel, exploring places like Arkansas, Branson, and her ancestral home, Ireland. As the mother of military sons, she ventured to Germany, England, and Scotland.

A lifelong and devout Roman Catholic, Ruth actively participated in the congregations of St. Theresa in Carlyss and Our Lady of Prompt Succor in Sulphur. She led several prayer groups and was an integral part of her church community. She completed several Pilgrimage missions including one to Medjugorje in then Yugoslavia.
Ruth’s keen sense of humor, combined with an Irish temper, made her a powerful presence. However, extreme kindness, caring nature, and boundless patience were her defining qualities. It was as if she knew what you were thinking before you ever said a word. And she possessed a unique ability to solve any problem and make everything better.

Ruth’s wisdom and humor were encapsulated in a couple of her favorite sayings: “Between me, you, and the gatepost” and “Pull your patience out of your pocket.”
