Sandy Mire

Sandy Lynn Abshire Mire, 73, of Sulphur, LA entered into Eternal Life with her Savior Jesus Christ in Heaven on the evening of October 28, 2022. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

Sandy was born in Lake Charles, LA to Leven and Bernice Abshire.  Sandy and Ronnie were united in marriage on September 28, 1965, where they began their life raising their three children.  Recently celebrating 57 years of marital bliss.

Sandy was a devout Christian woman and a follower of Jesus Christ.  She was devoted to her husband, children, and grandchildren; enjoyed spending time with them and hearing about all their activities. Oh, how she loved her family, they were her world.  She faithfully read her bible, enjoyed listening to French music (especially her youngest son playing the accordion), fishing, attending prayer groups, drinking coffee, visiting, and baking.

She leaves a legacy to her family of God’s amazing love and grace.  Though she was a humble, gentle woman, Sandy was nonetheless a powerful prayer warrior, and only heaven knows what a wonderful and eternal impact all her many years of faithful praying have had on her family and friends.

Sandy is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Ronnie Mire, three children: daughter, Gwen Stewart, sons Chris (Lori) Mire, Steven (Tonya) Mire, 9 grandchildren: Lindsey (Nicholas) Miller, Austin Mire, Andrew (Ashley) Mire, Adelynn Domingue, Allie Mire, Raylee Stewart, Aubre’ Mire, Anndyn Mire, Arlie Mire, 2 great grandchildren, Kanon Primeaux & Waylon Mire; 6 siblings, 1 sister-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Leven and Bernice Abshire, sister, Marcia Abshire, brother Tony Abshire, son-in-law Keith Stewart, brother-in-law Herman Mire.

Guestbook

  1. Sandy gave me my first job outside of babysitting. They owned a snowcone stand in Lake Charles and I had the privilege of working with several of her younger siblings. We had a blast. Sometimes a little too much fun was had and Sandy would have to get on to us. We deserved a little fussing. Lol. Thank you, Sandy. May you rest in the arms of your precious Savior.

  2. I met Sandy when she went to work at Hackberry cafeteria. I later invited her to go with me to a prayer group on Wednesdays His House Prayer group. When we walked through the door Sandy knew Gene Broussard, her sister had gone to school with Gene's daughter. Needless to say Sandy fit right in and we had a date every Wednesday morning. Until hurricane Laura hit we lost our house and our trips to the prayer group came to an end. But we maintained contact through text group and the prayer continues. There was never a time I talk to Sandy that before she said bye she offered help in any way possible all I had to do was call. The only help I ever asked from her was for prayer. And now that her status has been elevated to the right hand of God I will bombard her for intercession to Almighty God. I have lost a friend, prayer partner and a sister in Christ only in this world but connection through Christ remains.

  3. Scott, Kelley and Family, My Deepest Sympathy. May you go through this difficult time, through prayers and comfort of friends.

  4. To Ms Sandy’s family.. I live across from them and want you to know that my prayers are with you during this time.  May God watch over you and give you strength.
